How much per sq. ft.?

Posted by on Nov 25, 2013 in FAQ

This is probably the most frequently asked question and the one that a builder absolutely cannot answer accurately without more information from their client as to the style of house, level of finishing, etc.

As a rule, single storey homes on crawlspaces are more costly per sq.ft. than a two storey home of the same sq. footage. One of the reasons for this is the foundation and roof are about one half the size on the two storey house, of the same sq. footage.

There are a good number of other factors such as, is there a basement, roof type, special considerations of the lot, etc. That complicates the answer as well. Beware of those who would quote you a sq. ft. price as it is often quoted low to get you in the door.
